What is on each desk

The whole syllabus
Every topic and understanding, searchable by code or word, at SL or HL.
Prepared material you can change
Notes, key terms, practice questions with answers, and diagrams. Edit any of it, or add your own pictures.
Your teaching order
Reorder topics to match how you teach, not how a textbook does.
A profile per student
Level, syllabus edition, your private notes and what you have covered together.
Screen-share mode
Hides your private notes and enlarges the page for online lessons, with a highlighter, pen and eraser.
Backup and restore
Download everything as one file and load it back on any computer.

Your work stays in your browser

Students, notes, edits and topic order are saved only in the browser you use, on your own computer. Nothing is sent to a server, so nobody else can see it, and it cannot be recovered for you either. Each subject keeps its own separate storage. Download a backup regularly, and always before you clear browsing data or move to another computer or browser.

Used Tutor Desk at diyomeda.com?

The desks have moved here from diyomeda.com/tutordesk/. Saved work does not move by itself, because browsers keep it separately for each address. To bring it with you:

  1. Open the old desk and click Download backup.
  2. Open the new desk here and click Restore backup.
  3. Choose the file you downloaded. Repeat for each subject you use.

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes. There is no fee, no paid tier, no sign-up and no advertising. Open Tutor Desk is a diyomeda project, offered free to tutors.

Is this an official IB resource?

No. Open Tutor Desk is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the International Baccalaureate Organization. The desks follow the published subject guides, but the notes, questions and diagrams are prepared independently. Treat them as a starting point and check them against the official guide.

Where are my students and notes stored? Can anyone else see them?

Only in the browser on your own computer. Nothing is uploaded, so nobody else, including us, can see or recover it. Each subject keeps its own separate storage.

How do I use my desk on another computer or browser?

Click Download backup on the first computer, move the file to the second one, open the same subject there and click Restore backup. Do this for each subject you use.

What happens if I clear my browsing data?

Your saved work for that site is deleted, and it cannot be brought back without a backup file. Download a backup regularly, and always before clearing data, resetting your browser or changing computers.

Can I add my own pictures?

Yes, to any topic. They are saved in your browser together with your notes. Browsers give each site a limited amount of space, so smaller images (a few hundred KB each) let you add more. They are included in your backup file.

How does it work in an online lesson?

Turn on Screen-share mode before you share your screen. It hides your private notes about the student, enlarges the page, and gives you a highlighter, pen and eraser to draw on the page while you explain.

Which syllabus editions are covered?

ESS follows the guide for first assessment 2026, at SL and HL. Biology covers both the 2027 and the 2028 guides at SL and HL, and you choose the edition for each student.

What does the anonymous visit count record?

Only how many times each subject site is opened. It uses no cookies and stores nothing that identifies you, and it never sees your students, notes or anything you type.

Will other subjects be added? How do I report a mistake?

More subjects will be added over time. To report a mistake or suggest a subject, get in touch through diyomeda.com.
